There is now good evidence that the clinical manifestations of asthma - symptoms, sleep disturbances, limitations of daily activity, impairment of lung function, and use of rescue medications - can be controlled with appropriate treatment.

The Asthma Control Test (ACT) is a validated tool used for assessing and monitoring asthma control.  This 5 question tool is used to collect information on asthma symptoms, use of rescue medications, impact of asthma on daily activities and self rating of asthma control, in the 4 weeks prior to the assessment.
